Compliance Update: July 2024

Stay up to date on the latest regulatory and compliance updates in the insurance industry. July's update includes: changes to remote proctoring, exam provider change, state-specific course updates, and notifications about states dropping prelicensing requirements.

Remote Proctoring

Texas, Florida

Pearson Vue ended the ability to take the state exam from home (via online remote proctoring) in Texas and Florida as of 3/31/2024. All licensing exams must be taken in a Pearson Vue test center.

Course Updates

California

California state licensing exams are now available in the following languages: Chinese (Simplified), Korean, Spanish, Tagalog & Vietnamese. The ExamFX courses include links to the state Educational Objectives in those languages, found inside active courses via the Resources tab.

Florida

Florida the Life prelicensing requirement has been lowered from 40 hours to 30 hours effective November 2023. The ExamFX Life Course (2-14) has been approved for 30 credit hours.

Georgia

On April 19, 2024, PearsonVue changed the Variable Annuity 8-Hour PLE course title to 8-Hour Prelicensing for Variable Products. The course category was changed from L&H to Variable Products.

Nevada 

Nevada has increased the price per student to report CPE (quarterly) enrollments from $4.00 to $9.00 effective July 1, 2024. Website/course details/ordering pages have been changed to reflect this new fee.

Ohio

Ohio has a new prelicensing certificate of completion as of July 2023. This certificate has been updated in ExamFX products.

Oregon

Oregon will now offer prelicensing exams in Spanish starting June 1, 2024. ExamFX will offer PLE course material in Spanish in Oregon later this month.
 
 

States eliminating the prelicensing education requirement

Maryland

Maryland will eliminate the prelicensing education requirement on 10/1/2024.

Alabama

Alabama no longer requires prelicensing education as of 1/1/2024. We have adjusted the completion requirements for Life, Health and Life & Health. Property/Casualty and Personal Lines will come later.

Mississippi

Mississippi has eliminated the prelicensing requirement for LIFE only effective 7/1/2024. All other lines still require prelicensing education and a certificate of completion. The ExamFX Life course will soon reflect these changes.
